About the role

APNZ is seeking a Public Affairs Manager based in Wellington. By working closely with Members of Parliament, farming industry bodies and NGOs, the Manager will help drive forward our ask of legislative change in imports. The Manager’s work will be guided by the trustees. 

Advocacy Development and Execution

• Monitor, research and analyse key political developments and stakeholders

• Plan, design, implement, and continuously refine advocacy strategies

• Ensure advocacy strategies are responsive to the evolving policy landscape

• Outreach to a variety of external stakeholders via meetings

• Build relationships and represent the organisation at meetings with policymakers and at events

Project Management

• Organise events such as report launches

• Oversee specific projects such as petitions or reports

Communications

• Prepare materials, letters, briefings, position papers, and write for public consultations

• Prepare written outreach communications for supporters such as social media, email alerts, articles

• Design, implement, and continuously refine multi-channel communication strategies that effectively share API’s work and promote farmed animal welfare to diverse audiences. Integrated communication that promotes our initiatives and progress via our website, newsletter, social media channels.
